Treasure Island, 2009 (ongoing)
In this project, Corinne is exploring how communities shift priorities in technology and development over time, from focusing on defense and military concerns to models of environmental stability. The Treasure Island naval base in San Francisco has been virtually untouched for more than a decade. The island was built out of fill, dredged from the bay floor, for the Golden Gate International Exposition in 1939 and turned into a naval base soon thereafter. This series is part of an ongoing project where Corinne plans to document the redevelopment of the island. This first installment is dedicated to the WWII military base and the redevelopment text that lays out the plans for the ideal community.
